Dispatchers are trained to gather as much information as possible about an incident. They do this so that the responding officers will have the information necessary in order to plan and organize an effective response. Questions are asked so that the dispatcher and the responding officers have all the necessary information regarding descriptions of vehicles/persons involved, any injuries, any weapons used, etc. This also helps the officers understand the severity of the situation, how many officers should respond and the priority for emergency/non-emergency runs. The safety of all persons involved is increased, as well as the chance of apprehending any perpetrators. |

Accident reports can be accessed online at CRASHDOCS.ORG and are typically available 7-10 business days after the accident occurred. If you are unable access your crash report online, you may contact the Lower Township Police Records Clerks at 609-886-1619, extension 205. The LTPD Records Office is open Monday-Friday, from 8:00am to 4:00pm, and is closed on weekends and holidays. You may also send an email request for an accident report to records@lowertownshippolice.com and the accident report can be emailed to you once it is available.

Temporary handicapped parking permits are available same-day at the Lower Township Police Department Records Office. To obtain a temporary handicapped parking permit, you must bring a completed NJMVC SP-68 form, which is available online at https://www.nj.gov/mvc/pdf/vehicles/SP-68.pdf, and a check or money order for $4.00 made out to “NJ MVC” to the LTPD Records Office during business hours. Please do not bring cash, as the payment will be mailed to the NJ MVC. The form must be completed in full, and signed by the applicant’s physician. Permanent handicapped parking permits can only be obtained through the NJ MVC with their form NJ-41. The Police Department cannot issue permanent handicapped parking permits, and the forms are not interchangeable.

A Firearms Identification Card is required when purchasing shotguns, rifles, long arms or ammunition. You must be 18 years of age or older to obtain one, pending a background check, fingerprint check, and proper registration through the Lower Township Police Department. |

This is required for each handgun that a citizen wishes to purchase. Permits to Purchase are valid for 90 days and auto-renewed in the NJ FARS system one time for an additional 90 days. Permits to Purchase requests are thoroughly investigated prior to approval.

Yes. Local ordinance requires that all alarms (burglar, fire, panic, medical, etc) must be registered with the Lower Township Police Department. This registration is the responsibility of the homeowner, not the security company. Alarm Registration forms can be downloaded here or obtained from the Records Bureau. The completed application may be dropped off, mailed in to 405 Breakwater Road, Erma, NJ 08204, or faxed to the Records Department at 609-886-5289.
Failure to register your alarm may result in a summons for having an unregistered alarm in addition to any summonses issued for excessive false alarms.

Non-criminal fingerprinting is routinely done for certain types of employment. Non-criminal fingerprinting by the Lower Township Police Department is for Lower Township residents ONLY and is performed by the Patrol Division when workload permits and the person is required to bring their own fingerprint cards (often supplied by the potential employer). Fingerprinting is done 7 days a week. THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT PERMITTED TO FINGERPRINT FOR IMMIGRATION PURPOSES. |
